TEDx Talks

Craftivist Shannon Downey aka Badass Cross Stitch, speaks to white women about the often underexplored complexities of living in a society as both oppressed (as women) and oppressors (as white folks). In an unexpectedly humorous talk, Shannon shares a story of a moment in a grocery store that forced her to rethink her feminism. She speaks to the history of white supremacy in the feminist movement and how she believes this new wave of feminism will succeed so long as it is intersectional. In true form, Shannon handstitched all of her visuals and uses them to surprise, shock, amuse, and reinforce her message.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
