There are 3 types of low income housing or low income housing programs!

1.The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) provides tenantbased assistance, in the form of a voucher, to lowincome families, seniors and persons with disabilities for rental units chosen by the tenant in the private market.

2.Rapid rehousing provides shortterm rental assistance and services. The goals are to help people obtain housing quickly, increase self sufficiency, and stay housed. It is offered without preconditions (such as employment, income, absence of criminal record, or sobriety) and the resources and services provided are typically tailored to the needs of the person.

3.Permanent supportive housing is an intervention that combines affordable housing assistance with voluntary support services to address the needs of chronically homeless people. The services are designed to build independent living and tenancy skills and connect people with communitybased health care, treatment and employment services.
