The Dornier DoX, built in 1929, was the largest and heaviest flying boat of its time. It was equipped with 12 engines and had a maximum takeoff weight of over 16 tons. The luxurious interior featured a dining salon, smoking lounge, wet bar, and seating for 70 to 100 passengers. Despite its impressive size and amenities, the DoX faced challenges with engine control and altitude. However, it still managed to set a world record by carrying 169 passengers on a 40minute flight just a few months after its first test flight.
