Double knitting is an amazing colorwork technique that creates a reversible fabric in two colors. While the basic technique is rather simple, a lot of knitters struggle with the cast on. So, this video will show you 4 different way to cast on double knitting depending on the circumstances and your individual skill level.
The invisible cast on for double knitting is based on the Italian cast on, and is quite a bit fiddly. The twocolored double knitting cast on is based on the purlwise cast on and creates a firmer edge. And then, of course, you can also just do the standard longtail cast on and only start double knitting the first round.
If you want to knit two (socks) at a time, your best solution is casting on twice and then slipping the stitches to one needle.
