The old saying is that we should "Strike while the iron is hot!" This sermon was preached during a revival, and Spurgeon wanted to expend his effort to reach as many souls as he could.
Here he shows how the Holy Spirit entreats and pleads; and also how stubborn and hardhearted we can be, even when God in mercy reaches out to us.
