The video shows the faith of nanotherapeutics in the body. Due to their increased hydrodynamic radius, polymer nanotherapeutics show prolonged circulation in the bloodstream and enhanced accumulation in solid tumors via the EPR effect. Afterwards, polymerdrug conjugates penetrate tumor cells via endocytosis and release their cargo upon internal stimuli, e.g. the presence of proteases or a pHchange, which results in apoptosis – the programmed death of tumor cells. Finally, the remaining parts of the carrier system are safely removed from the body by kidney and urine.
