The Farmer was Replaced is a new indie farming automation game that utilizes python programming in a way that is approachable for nonprogrammers and satisfying for programming pros alike.
The game revolves around unlocking various plantable objects and upgrading their yields at the cost of the crops. Once you complete the tech tree you unlock the leaderboard and are able to reset your progress to try at improving your programs to be the most efficient possible.
If you are into idle/tycoon games and are interested in learning python programming in a fun way this game is great.

In this series we will be playing through the tech tree and providing a coding tutorial for the game. This is done not only to help guide players through the game, but also to help provide an example of how you could write a program to play the game. I know how to program in over 8 languages and currently utilize this knowledge in my work, so I hope that I can provide some insight into python programming for beginners. I am in no way the best programmer in the world so be sure to drop a comment if you know of a different or better way to do something in game. I always love to hear from my viewers on how to improve and the same goes for programming advice.

In this episode we initially cover the progress made since last episode (we harvested lots of hay, wood, and carrots and maxed out our speed and yield for grass, wood, and carrots). The primary focus of this episode is creating a program that we can add to our existing programs that will plant and harvest max size pumpkins automatically and that will scale to any field size automatically. We discuss some general programming practices while we build the programs, and we wrap up the episode by showing off our great pumpkin program. In the next episode we will be looking at python Lists and automating Sunflowers/Power so be sure to tune in next time for more programming and farming fun. Enjoy the video and see you in the next one!

If you want to check The Farmer was Replaced out it's available on steam and was quite affordable when I purchased the game (end of May 2024).
