For the 89 passengers aboard an early evening flight from John F Kennedy Airport to Minneapolis, TWA Flight 841 is like any other. Until at 9.30pm, less than halfway to their destination, catastrophe strikes. Suddenly, the plane rolls steeply to the right. With all his might, Captain Gibson struggles to bring the aircraft under control as with each passing second, thousands of feet in altitude are lost. Travelling at almost the speed of sound, the landing gear is lowered in an attempt to slow the plane down. It works, and an emergency landing is planned at Detroit. But the story doesn't end there...
