In this video, we analyze in detail the outstanding filmography of one of the greatest actors of all time: Daniel DayLewis. To achieve such interpretations and fully immerse himself in his characters, he adopted unusual practices, from not bathing for months and refusing to wear clothing, causing severe pneumonia, to learning skills such as sewing and hunting for his own food.

"You're not going to work with Daniel Day Lewis... you're going to work with whoever his character is, that's who you're going to see when you go to work in the morning and that's who will leave at night," said Paul Thomas Anderson after working with Daniel Day.

He began his career in 1971 with a brief appearance in "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and later distinguished himself in films such as "Gandhi" (1982) and "The Bounty" (1984). In "My Beautiful Laundry" (1985) he plays Johnny, a secondary character but with a lot of weight in the film. In 1985 he played Cecil Vyse in "A Room with a View", a somewhat... peculiar person.

In 1986 he acted in a brief role in the film Nanou and in 1988 he played Tomás, the protagonist of the film "The Unbearable Lightness of Being." That same year Daniel acted in the comedy film "Stars And Bars", although it was not very successful.

Daniel received international recognition with "Mi Pie Izquierdo" (1989), which earned him his first Oscar. That same year he made one of the most unusual films of his career. We are talking about "Eversmile, New Jersey", or "Eternal Smile of New Jersey", directed by Carlos Sorín, Argentine director.

Over the years, he starred in hits such as "The Last of the Mohicans" (1992), "The Age of Innocence" (1993) and "In the Name of the Father" (1993). In 1996 he starred in "The Witches of Salem" and a year later he starred in "The Boxer."

In 2002 he played one of his most iconic roles in a stunning Martin Scorsese film called "Gangs of New York." In 2005 he starred in "The Ballad of Jack and Rose" and in 2007, he played Daniel Plainview in "There Will Be Blood," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Two years later, in 2009, he starred in "Nine."

His role in "Lincoln" (2012) earned him his third Oscar. However, after "El Hilo Fantasma" (2017), Daniel retired from acting due to the emotional impact of his intense characterizations. Although he left the profession at a very young age, his legacy endures thanks to his extreme dedication to each character.
