The Folland Gnat sought to change the trend in fighter aircraft get bigger and more complicated. The result was a tiny jet aircraft that mainly is remembered for amazing stunts in the hands of the RAF's Red Arrow display team.
But the Gnat was also a lethal little dogfighter, as was proved by the Indian Air Force.
