In the waters of the Río de la Plata, on the coast of Montevideo, Uruguay, an island is located that over the decades served as a lazaret, a political prison and now is a protected area, in addition to its lighthouse that continues to fulfill a historical function of maritime signaling.
Today the forgotten island of flowers (isla de Flores) preserves the ruins of that not so distant past.
