Stewart and Sandra Hart’s house and garden in country Victoria was destroyed in Australia’s worst ever recorded bush fires. Courageously they decide to embark on a new project just a few kilometres down the road at Waiora. This is no easy fix. The existing garden is overgrown and random, disguising rather than showcasing the spectacular country views. Then there’s the challenge of ensuring the house and garden are protected from the everpresent threat of bush fire.The couple call on one of Australia’s leading landscape designers, Paul Bangay to help realise their family orientated country garden which includes a swimming pool, dining area and lawn bordered by swathes of perennials.Three years later Michael McCoy returns to see if their new garden has helped heal the scars of the past.
