The History of Egypt (1/5): Building the Great Pyramids

Follow
Cartoon History

One of the greatest civilisations the world has produced, Ancient Egypt is as fascinating as it is brutal, mysterious and modern; unknowable and strangely familiar.

It is a story that spans 3,000 years, from the time of the first Pharaoh Narmer to the suicide of Queen Cleopatra. Mummies, curses, magic and strange Gods... war and famine, death and rebirth. The history of Ancient Egypt is just about as important and interesting as it gets.

In this first video, we look at the formation of Egypt as a nation state, its early culture and beliefs, and the building of the Great Pyramids of Giza.

I hope you enjoy the video.

For further reading I can recommend, "The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt" by Toby Wilkinson.
