Greetings all! :D

Moving on with the history of the HSTs by region, we now arrive on the Cross Country network, a system, in the early 1980s, that was desperate for some kind of reprieve as years of dwindling passenger numbers pushed it to the brink of being cut, only for the introduction of the HSTs in 1982 to turn what had been one of BR's biggest lossmakers into a modest profit maker, and paving the way for the future of this often forgotten section of the UK railway system.
