CHECKLIST: HOW TO ANALYZE A DRONE SCENE:
Find a clear singular subject for the purpose of practicing composition
—If you can’t find a strong subject, make yourself the subject
—it is NOT a selfie. You are practicing the core skills of storytelling
Study how the light is hitting your subject
—reposition the drone so the sunlight is accentuating the best features of your subject
—consider returning to the scene when the sun is in a different position
Identify elements in your scene that ADD to the narrative of your subject
—try to keep these elements in the scene
Identify elements in your scene that DISTRACT from the subject
—this is the hardest step for us drone cowboys because of just how common ugly elements
are like power line, telephone poles, parked cars, advertisements, politicians, etc.
