With an unvented cylinder, you have a T/PRV. You’d normally run that to outside, but if you have a landlocked boiler or cylinder, it’s much more difficult to install, and there’s a greater cost. Install the hotun dry trap tundish and it allows you to run out to an internal drain.
Then, go a step further with the hotun detect alarm unit. It simply clips on the side of the tundish. It’s an early warning system, sensing both water and temperature. If your PRV starts to drip, it senses the water and alerts the homeowner. You can even find out if it’s a cold or warm water issue to direct the engineer to the problem.
