Ford's Explorer Hybrid is a bit of a different animal than the benchmark hybrid in this segment: the Highlander Hybrid. Rather than trying to be the most efficient entry in the segment, Ford decided the fuelsipping Explorer needed to tow like the rest of the Explorer lineup, unfortunately that seems to run counter to the fuel savings that most hybrid shoppers seem to be looking for.
