Want to ride the longest bike path in the world across water? Then you just need to head to Burlington, Vermont and ride the Island Line Rail Trail. You'll ride along the shore of Lake Champlain, the 6th largest natural freshwater lake in the US. As you ride across Lake Champlain on the spectacular 3 mile long Colchester Causeway you'll have breathtaking views to the east of Vermont's Green Mountains, and New York's Adirondack Mountains to the West. The trail is 13.4 miles long. The southern 8 miles are paved, and the remainder is hardpacked, crushed limestone. The trail was voted into the RailstoTrails Conservancy RailTrail Hall of Fame in December, 2010. This ride took place on July 23, 2021.
