Here is the ancient Jesus Prayer, translated by me and sung in Gothic by me (and my wife in the second half). The melody I am singing here is a wellknown recitation of the prayer.

The Gothic language, sadly now extinct, was an East Germanic language attested between the 3rd and 10th centuries, but some forms of it survived in the Crimea until a substantially later date.

The Goths were quite early converts to Christianity with their conversion taking place in the late fourth century. Just picture the scene of a group of newly converted Goths gathering in a humble wooden church reciting this.
