Boabdil, Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muhammad ibn Abī ilHasan 'Alī, was the last sultan of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, and thus the last to rule in Spain.

His significance lies in surrendering the city to the Catholic Monarchs after the signing of the capitulations. Boabdil's proposal was for the rights of the inhabitants of Granada to be respected, including those related to religious matters (rights that were only respected for a few years).

Boabdil knew he symbolized the end of an era and couldn't compete with the advancements in Castilian military technology. His days were numbered, and he was aware of it. Many label him a cowardly warrior, while others see him as a lucid mind that prevented the destruction of the Alhambra.
