You can't get the Ocarina from Level4 until you get the Raft from Level2, and you can't get the Raft until you find some bait to feed the Moblin. Lastly, you can't get defeat the Digdogger (or Wizzrobe Quartet in this game) guarding the stepladder in Level1 until you get the Ocarina.

I died a total of 29 times, mostly in the third dungeon while I was fighting the blue Darknuts holding onto both the Handyglove and the Heart Container.

There are a toal of four bomb capacity upgrades in each quest; however, in this video I was only able to get two of them because I was short on rupees.
