In elementary school, we all used to line up and go from class to class. Someone would be at the head of the line (the line leader), and someone would be at the end (the caboose). For many children, this is their first introduction to leadership, but is this really how we want to teach our kids to become leaders? As the President of the IB Club and Assistant Drum Major of her high school band, Jillian has a strive for teaching, leadership, and excellence. She has tons of school spirit, and is involved in her school's Orchestra, Color Guard, Varsity Women’s Wrestling, and Track Team. In her free time, she loves to hang out with friends, do graphic design, drink boba, go on long car rides, volunteer for non profits, and watch scary movies. Jillian is passionate about Women's Equality in STEAM, Sustainability, and Human Rights! She used her gift and love for public speaking, education, and leadership to CoFound Solis, which is an organization dedicated to creating equality in education by providing aid to the unseen students of the education system. Apart from being the CoFounder of Solis, Jillian is involved in Girl’s Inc. Eureka!, Athena's Edge, ASF Youth, and Project Create a Future! In the future, she wishes to attend Stanford University in order to become a psychiatrist. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
