The Linville Gorge, also known as the grand canyon of North Carolina, is a wilderness area maintained by the United States Forest Service. It features breathtaking views, rugged terrain and trails galore. You can easily spend a week here exploring the area. Rocking climb, fishing and hiking paradise. Don't try and do a lot of miles here. Take in the scenery and enjoy what this magical area has to offer.

I highly recommend you download the free Avenza app and then download the Linville Gorge Wilderness map (free). It will make your trip easier when you get to the northern section past the visitor center.
