As a society, we have lost the art of being Silent. Yet silence is powerful and has numerous health benefits.
Silence makes people uncomfortable. You meet someone for the first time and you try to make conversation and then there is an awkward pause.
Silence can make people angry. You get into an argument with a friend or partner and you get the silent treatment.
Silence however in the Hindu tradition is valued. Hinduism tells us that the nature of OUR self, the Self is silence.
Between Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat and YouTube, silence has disappeared.
However lets change that. Lets add some silence back into our lives.
