In the New Testament, Jesus tells us that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. We first must have the mind of Christ to love ourselves the way that God does before we can love our neighbors.

If we are insecure about who we are, it will be challenging to love others well. The more you want someone to love you, the greater fear you will have of them loving you if you do not love yourself. And then you will begin to reject them before they can reject you.
