This is the wildest and most fun icebreaker for large groups we've ever run. The good thing is that everyone has played this icebreaker game at least once in their lives (well, maybe not as an icebreaker, though).

If you ever wanted to bring down barriers in a group fast and get a team from 0 to 100 immediately, you should definitely try this icebreaker in your next workshop or event.

This video was shot during a meetup, where we invited 50 of the most successful facilitators from our Workshopper Master program to our office in Berlin.

How to run the Rock, Paper, Scissors Icebreaker for large groups:

Step 1: Divide your participants into two groups with the same number of people each. Make sure that each participant has an opponent facing them.

Step 2: Explain the rules of Rock, paper, scissors.

Rule 1: Rock beats scissors. Scissors beat paper. Paper beats rock.

Rule 2: In our case, we decided that participants should count "one, two, three" aloud, and on the count of "four," they present rock, paper, or scissors.

Rule 3: The winner is the person who wins two out of three rounds.

Step 3: After each match, the loser has to become the biggest supporter of the winner, and hype them up during their next match. This applies to each following match until there are two big groups of people supporting the last two contenders.

Bonus step: Give the winner a little present (it doesn't have to be anything fancy). It's always great to surprise participants with this kind of gesture. It creates a memorable moment.
