Taimiao is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square on East Chang'an Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was built in the 18th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty. The enclosed courtyard is an important part of the Forbidden City. It is located in the designated World Cultural Heritage Beijing Forbidden City protection buffer zone. It was built at the same time as the Forbidden City according to the ancient system of "Zuo Zu You She". It has gone through the Ming and Qing dynasties.
