On June 6, 1944, Operation Overlord was launched with the objective of landing on the beaches of Normandy, France, within the framework of World War II.

With enormous, unprecedented logistics and with the unknown as to how the operation would end, the allies launch themselves into France occupied by Hitler's Germany.

The Soviets, who have been fighting the Germans in Eastern Europe for 3 years, breathe a sigh of relief. The Germans must reject the invasion to focus on the Soviet threat, or fail, and be trapped between two major fronts with very little chance of victory.

This documentary is about these events told by their own protagonists from both sides.
