We put two modified BMC Twostroke hardtails head to head to see if we could crown a hardtail that rules them all.

Though both Twostrokes share the same geometry, one has been kitted out as a crosscountry race weapon and the other has been tweaked to be a trail shredder designed to take big hits dayin, dayout.

To see which bike comes out on top in this hardtail headtohead, the two Toms talk you through the changes they’ve each made to their chosen bike before we pit them against each other in a series of challenges.

We’ll see how they fare on the fireroad and technical climbs on our test loop at Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District and find out if they have the descending capabilities to shred the gnar and bring out the smiles on the way back down.
