Follow
From the Window Seat

Experience the joy of travelling by train between Melbourne and Adelaide on Australia's oldest intercapital passenger train, The Overland. In this video you'll get to see what the passenger experience is like in Red Premium class (the equivalent of first class), which includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.
In this video you'll get to see the features aboard the train, including the cafe car (Cafe 828), see the Red Standard seating (equivalent to economy class), and get to enjoy the interesting sights along the route.
The video will also highlight some of the history of The Overland and provide facts and figures about the towns the train serves.
The Overland first ran in 1887 as the Adelaide Express, known by South Australians as the Melbourne Express. It got its current name in the 1920s. The train is now operated by private company Journey Beyond.
Although The Overland was originally a sleeper train, it now runs as a daylight train, operating twice a week in each direction.
