When we place an ideal Harmonic Oscillator in a medium that introduces friction, we get a Damped Harmonic Oscillations. Under light damping, we observe oscillations whose amplitude decreases exponentially. With damping greater than a critical value, no oscillations happen. Instead a displaced oscillator slowly comes towards its equilibrium
