Continuing to examine Lithuania’s military and defence situation, let’s look at another nation sending its troops to NATO’s eastern flank: Portugal.
So I knew about the American soldiers stationed at Pabrade and the income German brigade as well as the NATO multinational battlegroup at Rukla but you know what? I had NO idea about the Portuguese soldiers rotating in and out of the Brigadier General Povilas Plechavičius Training Area in Kairiai, in the district of Klaipėda. According to the Lithuanian military, Portugal has been sending rotations of troops to Lithuania since 2015 under the NATO Assurance Measures programme.
