TEDx Talks

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How does a toothache affect your body? Do you consider oral health as an integral part of your wellbeing? Misunderstanding of dental disease exists in our society through the influence of our cultural behaviors that impact our knowledge and lifestyles.
To break a diseased culture we must first acknowledge it exists.

Do you understand the habits that make a toothache arise? What impact does a simple toothache have on your body?

Dental disease insidiously imbeds itself into our society through the influence of our cultural behaviors that impact our knowledge and lifestyles.

The first step to breaking a diseased culture is by acknowledging it exists.

Bio

Dr Steven Lin is a dentist trained at the University Of Sydney with a background in human biology, exercise and nutrition. A philosophy of lifestyle centered health and broader perspective of fixing teeth led to his concern that as a society we have developed a dangerously neglectful approach to dental health. Alarming levels of dental disease, spiraling costs and the impact on our overall health are problems that he has focused on finding solutions for.

The need for a shift to proactive prevention and education has inspired his mission of implementing positive change to Australian EHealth via the dissemination of information technology, social enterprise and web communication.

In 2013 Steven cofounded DentalHub, a company introducing the Australian dental community to the fast moving world of online, mobile and tech innovation.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, selforganized events that bring people together to share a TEDlike experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, selforganized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are selforganized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
