The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Erin Simms as Lost Galaxy’s Maya!

Earlier this year, we uncovered lost dailies featuring Erin Simms, the original actress cast as Maya [Lost Galaxy Yellow] on Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Erin parted ways with production prior to the premiere, and Cerina Vincent was recast in the role we came to see onscreen. Erin Simm’s scenes were reshot with Cerina — including this one of Erin performing Maya’s monologue from the end of the twopart premiere, after becoming a Power Ranger.

Discovering the lost dailies from this scene allowed us to once again partner with Kadam’s Edits to present this Lost Galaxy “What If…?” scene as it may have looked in the final episode! Which is to say — no, this is not a straight clip from an alternate edit from production.

The scene itself is almost wordforword from the episode that made it to air, minus some missing dialogue added in postproduction. Maya is also holding her helmet in Erin’s iteration of the scene, while Cerina’s performance left both hands free to presumably allow for more movement. We of course adore Cerina in the role; but what fun it is to see what an alternate take with Erin Simms would’ve looked like! Props to both actors.

Flash ⚡ Fact: Erin Simms may have been most wellknown at the time for her role of Morgan on #StudentBodies, but she’s more recently recognized for her work as Writer/Producer of the wildly successful Book Club movies starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen.
