In her mid50’s, Laura Cleminson realized how unprepared her family was for her mother’s death. Death had never been welcomed or invited into their family conversations and they certainly weren’t alone. To understand our death phobic society, Laura became a death doula and started a club for the predead (no barrier to entry!) to talk about death from both an emotional and practical standpoint. In this poignant, funny talk she assures us, humans really DO want to “diealouge” about death, they just need some people to talk to! Laura Cleminson is an entrepreneur and the founder of the PreDead Social Club, a missionbased organization working on “keeping the diealogue alive.” Laura’s a death doula, hospice volunteer, and active member of the NH Health Care Decisions Coalition – part of the Foundation for Healthy Communities. She’s a former associate at VentriFlo, Inc., a medical device company dedicated to improving patient outcomes requiring cardiopulmonary support during surgery or in the ICU, where she shares a patent with five colleagues.
