The Kings of France

The Princess Of Lamballe Marie Antoinette's Friend: MarieThérèseLouise de SavoyCarignan, princess of Lamballe, known as “Mademoiselle de Carignan” or “Madame de Lamballe”, is a princess of the House of Savoy. She was born in Turin on September 8, 1749 and died in Paris on September 3, 1792.

In 1767, she married LouisAlexandre de Bourbon, Prince of Lamballe, son of the Duke of Penthièvre (himself the son of the Count of Toulouse, who was the legitimized son of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan) and heir of a legitimized branch of the family royal of France. The Princess of Lamballe was widowed at the age of 19 in 1768.

The princess of Lamballe became a close friend of the Dauphine MarieAntoinette who, after having become queen, appointed Lamballe as surintendent of her house. Although the relationship between De Lamballe and Marie Antoinette was not always close, throughout her life De Lamballe remained completely devoted to the royal family, for which she eventually paid with her life.
