▸ The Punisher (Francis "Frank" Castle, born Castiglione) is an antihero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. The Punisher made his first appearance in The Amazing SpiderMan #129 (coverdated February 1974), originally depicted as an assassin and adversary of the superhero SpiderMan.
