In May 1999, the day of the accident couldn’t have been more normal. Anna Bågenholm was an adventurous young physician who thrived in the snowy landscapes of Norway. Her favorite place to ski was outside Narvik, Norway, and was eager to spend the day doing what she loves. But a few runs into their trip, Bågenholm caught some snow the wrong way and tripped, losing her skis. She tumbling downhill, at the mercy of gravity as she has no way of stopping her impending doom. She cracked through the frozen stream. The shock of the freezing water enveloped Anna, stealing her breath and numbing her senses. She went headfirst through the ice. She was trapped beneath the thick layer, unable to escape.
