What happens if you grow an avocado tree from seed? We'll today we'll find out! I'll show you an awesome avocado tree that was grown from a storebought fruit from the grocery store, and it began producing fruits at 6.5 years old.
But, was it worth the wait and do the fruits taste good?
You might have heard about avocados and how they don't grow "true to seed" or "true to type", meaning the resulting fruit can turn out differently to the fruit you start with. Today we're going to talk about if it's worth growing avocados from seed and compare that option to the more common method, grafting which is used for commercially grown avocados as well as trees you'll find at your local nursery.
So, we'll harvest some of this trees first ever fruits, and give them a taste to see how they are!
I'll also show you a quick demonstration of how to graft your own avocado tree if that's something you choose to do, and give you 'my take' on growing avocado from seed and if you should give this a go as well.
I hope this video gives some perspective on the topic of seed grown avocados and shows you that this can be a viable option as well... plus it's super rewarding and a lot of fun!
