The Record That Will Never Be Broken

The WM P88, a French sports prototype racing car, gained fame by breaking the speed record at the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team's goal was to exceed 400 km/h (248.5 mph) on the Mulsanne Straight. Achieving this required meticulous aerodynamic refinements and a powerful Peugeot engine. During qualifying, driver Roger Dorchy reached a peak speed of 405 km/h (251.1 mph), setting a new record. Although the car did not finish the race due to mechanical issues, its recordbreaking speed remains a historic achievement in endurance racing history.
