The Mughal invasion of Bengal resulted in the defeat of the Afghan Karrani dynasty in the Battle of Raj Mahal, leading to Bengal's annexation by the Mughal Empire. However, Isa Khan, leader of the Bhati region, unified local chieftains and resisted the Mughals until his death in 1599. It was only after his death that Bengal fell completely under Mughal control.
