Renzo Piano's glass structure the Shard opens to the public on 1 February. Architecture critic Oliver Wainwright visits its 72nd floor open viewing platform 244 metres above ground to see the 40mile view from Western Europe's tallest building. He also speaks to architect William Matthews about the glass building, which costs £25 per adult ticket to visit, and visits the Shard's gents toilet
