When Playtonic Games, a company comprised of former Rare developers, announced a spiritual successor to BanjoKazooie in their new game YookaLaylee, fans were ecstatic. Once it released, however, critical and fan reception was very mixed. Two years after it launched, Playtonic released a 2D platforming sequel Impossible Lair, and this time, they produced what seemed to be a satisfying title.
