It has been 3 years since the Series consoles have been out, and in that time we've seen these machines do a lot: play stunning triple A games, enhance older titles with HDR and a 60 FPS boost, and has the ability to play a lot of older Xbox titles with it's impressive backwards compatibility. That's all well and good, but the console feature I love most is the one not broadcasted by Microsoft or Xbox: emulation. Since it's release, people have developed and ported a variety of emulators for the platforms. Since the Series packs some serious power, the emulators actually perform quite well. In 2022, the emulation community developed more for the consoles and it now stands as one of the most impressive and affordable devices for emulation. But what happened in 2022 lifted the Xbox to place it is now?

That is the question I will be answering! In this deep dive, I'll be covering almost everything emulation related on the Xbox that occured in 2022. From the small quality of life changes to existing programs like RetroArch, to the newer ports like the Gamecube and Wii emulator, Dolphin and now the Xbox 360 emulator, Xenia. There is just so much more gaming that can be done for this next gen console that it is just straight up impressive.
