I picked up a beat up Eflite 70mm F16 from a friend a few months back with the intent of converting it to a twin propjet. I've done a number of propjet conversions on here in the past, but they are usually on smaller 64mm platforms, or custom airframes I design around that size. This project gave me the opportunity to build one that still had retracts and the feel of a bigger plane. For power I used two 2206, 2000Kv motors spinning 7x5 3 blade props. The stock airplane, uses a 6s4000mAh battery, and with the efficiency of props, I was able to drop to a 4s2200mAh battery. The completed "jet" weighs almost a pound lighter than stock, and has nearly 2:1 thrust to weight. This makes for nearly zerolength takeoff rolls, and over 6 minute flight times. I'm really happy with how this came out, it has all the fun parts about a bigger EDF, with the efficiency and performance of a regular plane. The clear props are barely visible when in the air, and are reasonably quiet when not at full throttle. This was an awesome stock EDF, and this conversion turned it into a whole new experience.
