Last Exit

The stranger is a novel published in 1942, it is the first of the writer Albert Camus. The stranger is usually associated with the philosophy of the absurd and existentialism, despite the fact that Camus always distanced himself from this last label. The main character clearly shows the philosophy of the absurd, the feeling in people of being alienated, of not finding meaning in life.

In a stark introspection in an individual who tries to be guided only by his thoughts and his desires; shows an exploration of the break between the individual and social conventions; a chronicle of the reaction of the institutions, before a person that they consider a risk to society, using arguments that border on the absurd.

The story introduces us to Meursault, a FrenchAlgerian man who is passive and oblivious to the world around him. After committing a crime, he does not experience regret, nor is he unfazed by the death of his mother. The protagonist's attitude clashes with social conventions and leads him to his own death sentence.
