The Subjective Assessment | Physiotherapy Clinical Exam Prep

Follow
Bradley Kadou Physiotherapy

In this video I describe a handy little mnemonic I used as a student to tackle the subjective assessment part of examination of an unseen patient.

This is a stepbystep way to obtain all the background information that is needed from a patient in order to perform a holistic writeup and treatment plan that is needed for clinical exams.

The questions/descriptions I used are examples of what should be asked under each topic, and shouldn't necessarily all be used for any patient. As stated in the video, some topics require more depth than others, and some can be touched on briefly.

Examinations are sometimes unnecessarily vigorous. A regular subjective examination should not be an interview, but rather an empathetic conversation between clinician and patient. This video was created with the purpose to efficiently obtain as much information as possible within a small timeframe. Realistically, this does not always happen.
