Publix was founded in 1930 by a man named George Jenkins and it is now one of the biggest supermarket chains in the US. It currently operates over 1200 stores throughout seven southeastern states in the US. Given that it is only present in seven states of the US, it’s very likely that if you are not from one of these seven states, you may have never heard of Publix despite it being so big. But we think that the story of this supermarket chain is a great story. It tells us about a young businessman who took risks and helped shape an entire industry in the process.
