taj mahal, built 400 years ago, is a tremendous example of engineering which still stands strong even today. after seeing its technology, scientists still believe that such a tremendous building can hardly be rebuilt today
as attractive as the taj mahal looks, its engineering is even more attractive, and perhaps that is why it is today included as the seventh wonder of the world.
the idea of foundation of taj mahal is taken from military foundation and civil engineering which is indestructible.
preparing a strong foundation in the area around the river is a very challenging task because on one hand there is soil erosion due to water and on top of that there is slippery soil which can destroy any foundation.
so the engineer thought why not make a foundation which does not weaken due to water but becomes stronger
to make a strong foundation of taj mahal, more than 100 wells were first dug and these wells were filled with wood and limestone. wood is stronger because of water and limestone creates a waterproof foundation here.
the design of the dome of taj mahal creates an illusion because it has a double dome design which is 73 meters high from outside but from inside it is only 35 meters high.

magnificent texturing has been done on the taj mahal for which stones were sourced worldwide.
to speed up construction, the taj mahal was built with the help of bricks, and a layer of 8 to 10inch thick marble was set on top of it.
