Real Crusades History

After Saladin's spectacular victory at the battle of Hattin and conquest of Jerusalem, Latin Christendom responded. Frederick Barbarossa, the Holy Roman Emperor, King Philip II of France, and the King of England, Richard the Lionheart, all gathered forces to take the fight to Saladin. Barbarossa ended up battling the Byzantine emperor and the Seljuk Turks in Asia Minor, while the Lionheart struggled with Saladin for control of the Holy Land. Ultimately, the Third Crusade would result in some of the most epic and memorable battles in the history of the Crusades. This documentary tells the full story in all its action and drama.
